Tim smiled, his heart felt as light as a feather as he leaned down and placed a kiss on Damian’s forehead. “I make no excuse for my past behaviour towards you and I can only offer you my word that it won’t happen again.” Damian hesitated, “I would like for us to be brothers, if you want to, that is.” “I’m sorry too,” The younger boy said after a few minutes of silence. “Err, thanks.” Tim replied, feeling even more confused when Damian wrapped the blanket around his shoulder before sitting down and snuggling up to him. “Here,” his little brother said, offering him a cup of hot chocolate. Damian said nothing and his expression was completely blank as he placed the tray on the table beside the bench. Tim noted that he also had a blanket thrown over his shoulder. Tim felt his eyes widening in disbelief as he continued to stare at his little brother, who was balancing a tray filled with a plate of cookies and two cups of hot chocolate, entering the room. He sat back down on the bench and resigned himself to another night alone.Ī few minutes passed and his head snapped up when he heard footsteps coming. Perhaps it’s just too late for them and now he had to accept the fact that he and Damian will never have the same relationship that they do with the rest of their siblings. Tim sighed, shaking his head as he took an icepack and gingerly placed it on his head. For what it’s worth Damian, I am so sorry.”ĭamian didn’t bother answering, just spun around on his heels and left the room without even glancing back at him. Tim softened a bit, “I know and I regret that. “You’ve never cared about me before,” Damian said, eyes filled with confusion and suspicion. “I’m not saying that you can’t, you stupid brat.” Tim snapped at him, why can’t this entitled brat just understand?! “I’m saying that you’re family and family protects each other. “I can take care of myself!” Damian cut him off, his fists clenching and unclenching like he wanted to punch something. “You’re my little brother, that means I’m responsible for you whether you like it or not-” With a heavy sigh, Tim pushed himself off the bench in the Batcave and put his shirt back on, wincing a bit at the pain and looking at Damian with an intense look on his face. While not necessarily a boss, Ink Bendy appears in every chapter of the game aside from the 4th chapter. Got all those facts, now let's bring them all together! Clue 2 is that since Sammy might have HELPED Joey, so that means Bendy may have be hunting him down, but not as hard as he's chasing Joey! What has also been a key motivator for Sunny was to put together a wine list that steered away from the ‘classics’ – think Chablis, Barolos and Sancerres. To fulfill this ambition, it was paramount for Sunny to work directly with the winemakers, taking the wine importers and agencies out of the equation. His vision was to offer customers a truly alternative selection of wines that they might not have even dreamed of. It is clear from the outset that Sunny didn’t want to reproduce a template used by large retailers and high street wine shops. But I was curious to hear from the man himself, first-hand, about the motivations and ideas that drove him to open this exciting project. With the press release in my hands, I thought I had a good understanding of Diogenes’ concept. Prior to opening his bar, Sunny’s most recent position was at the Italian restaurant Margot in Covent Garden, where he formed part of the opening management team, along with the owners Paulo de Tarso and Nicolas Jaouen. I walked into the spacious ground floor area and was welcomed by Sunny as we sat down for a coffee. He was the ultimate loner who preferred his own company to that of other people. Considered to be the original stoic, the legend goes that Diogenes lived in an oversized wine casket and championed the lifestyle of dogs over humans. The bar is named after the ancient Greek philosopher, also known as Diogenes the Cynic, who lived for nearly 90 years between 414 BC and 323 BC. I got in touch with Diogenes’ PR team at Mance&Co and booked a meeting with Sunny on a rainy Saturday morning, exactly a week before restaurants, pubs and bars were allowed to re-open. I decided to write a short piece about Diogenes The Dog and I also wanted to catch up with its founder, Sunny Hodge. I’m all for supporting local and independent businesses, and particularly those brave enough to challenge the pre-conceptions of certain neighbourhoods in London. Suddenly I felt slightly guilty that I hadn’t been back ever since. I remember popping in when it launched and ended up buying a wonderful bottle of Crémant de Bourgogne (Deliance Père & Fils, Brut Réserve NV), the more affordable alternative to champagne. It was during one of those late afternoon strolls, walking aimlessly in Elephant & Castle, that I bumped into Diogenes The Dog, the wine bar and boutique wine shop which opened its doors in November 2018. And it was a joy to reacquaint myself with all the historical buildings at my doorstep: Lambeth Palace, the Cinema Museum, the Stockwell Bus Garage, Southbank House and one of London’s best kept secrets, the Beefeater Gin Distillery, just off Kennington Lane. I learned to appreciate how close I am to so many green spaces such as Kennington Park, West Square and the gem that is Harleyford Road Community Garden. With so much spare time on my hands, I was able to slow down and take a fresh new look at my surroundings in South East London. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the recent lockdown was the opportunity for me to embark on long walks in my neighbourhood. In his only public statement on Thomas' death, he criticized the media for not reporting what landed Thomas in jail in the first place. The sheriff has mostly shied away from the Thomas case. Despite the grand jury's recommendation, nothing is set in stone. "So that's the really the dumb thing is that you were punishing or teaching a lesson to someone for whom that made no sense," Koneazny said.Īfter hearing all the evidence during the inquest, the grand jury recommended charges for seven officers at Milwaukee County Jail. He told officers in the jail, 'This guy might be dying you need to check on him.' And they didn't," Mitchell said. This inmate said that he was on the ground, he was unresponsive, he was naked, he didn't have a mattress. "This inmate said, and there's surveillance video that kind of proves his story because he said that. Mitchell sat through the entire inquest process for WTMJ in Milwaukee. "If you do something wrong in the jail, you get moved to the disciplinary unit - even if you're dealing with mental health issues," WTMJ reporter Rikki Mitchell said. Then, a jury makes a recommendation on who should or shouldn't be charged but their decision isn't binding. The inquest lets the Milwaukee County district attorney question potential witnesses under oath without any actual charges being filed. Thomas' death was the subject of a full investigation called an inquest. And, somehow, people could walk by that and not try to figure out something better to do with him than to put him in a punishment cell," Koneazny said. "His behaviors was pacing, yelling and singing, talking gibberish, licking the window. Officers at the jail intentionally turned Thomas' water off to discipline him, but they never turned it back on. "The man that just recently died of thirst was essentially tortured," said Christine Neumann-Ortiz of the activist group Voces de la Frontera. But none of the deaths are like that of Terrill Thomas.
